Yes — and many homeowners do, both to change the color and to refresh a faded original finish. Painting over factory-finished Hardie just requires the right prep (clean surface, scuff-sand where needed, prime any bare spots).

James Hardie's 30-year material warranty covers the siding itself, regardless of whether it's been repainted. The 15-year ColorPlus finish warranty is on the factory finish, so once you repaint, the new paint's warranty (our 3-year workmanship warranty plus the paint manufacturer's warranty) becomes the relevant coverage.

Spring and fall are ideal — daytime temperatures between 50°F and 90°F, overnight lows above 50°F, and dry weather. April–June and September–October are the sweet spots. We can paint year-round when conditions allow.
